First Electric Truck in Hagerstown
In 1903 six partners had an idea and formed what is now HBP, Inc. Back then, Hagerstown Bookbinding & Printing produced stationery, notices, posters and other materials using hand-fed letter presses.

In 1906 we purchased an electric delivery truck. The first of its type in Hagerstown, Maryland; the vehicle saw many years of service and became a local icon.

In its first sixty years of operations, our company kept up with the technology of the times. We continually added equipment and expanded facilities to better serve a growing market.

In the early 1960s, West Virginia businessman, William B. Snyder purchased Hagerstown Bookbinding. An experienced printer and newspaper publisher, he began transitioning our company from letterpress to offset printing.

In 1968 Hagerstown Bookbinding moved its operations to a more modern building in the Hagerstown City Industrial Park. To reflect our move away from traditional bookbinding, we shortened our name to HBP, Inc. in the 1990's.

Today HBP uses computers and digital technology to produce not only high quality printing, but also to provide a host of graphic, communications and fulfillment services. Our company has grown to become one of the largest independent commercial printers in the mid-Atlantic Region and is known for innovative and creative solutions.

As our products have evolved we are now offering marketing services. We can help you design variable data, email or PURL campaigns.
