Our printing operation encompasses a PDF based pre-press department, half size and full size presses, on-demand digital printing and a highly automated bindery department.

Pre-Press

HBP utilizes the full digital capabilities of Kodak's PDF based Prinergy workflow. Our prepress systems allow the seamless integration for the Pre-flighting of digital files through imposition and final output.

Online Proofing

With online proofing, you can view, comment, and approve your job proofs over the Internet using a standard Web browser. This also allows people working at different sites to access the same proofs.

Our plate department is completely digital. All of our offset plates are directly imaged on one of our thermal platesetters.

Presses

We offer technologically advanced sheetfed printing with a full range of presses including quarter, half, and full size machines. HBP is one of only two printers in the state of Maryland to be GRACoL7 Certified.

GRACoL® is the new industry standard for quality color printing. It's the world's most advanced color management tool, designed to eliminate color "casts" in process color and guarantee repeatability between jobs (and between printers). The latest GRACoL7 standards offer you color proofs that accurately predict color on press, and press sheets that reproduce color with unparalleled fidelity, time after time.

Stochastic screening is an exciting development in offset printing that only became practical since the introduction of CTP technology. HBP was an early adopter of stochastic screening and made it our offset standard. If you are not familiar with the benefits of this technology, please consult with a sales person.

Digital Printing

The power of personalized marketing communications enhances your response rates and reduces inventories. With variable data digital printing you control versionable, individualized text and graphics targeted to customer and prospect interests.

Our digital printing department offers both black and white as well as color digital printing. This department has become an integral part of our online store and fulfillment services.

Fully Automated Bindery

Our computerized paper cutters are the ultimate in accuracy, repeatability, and efficiency. We can store the cutting parameters for repeat projects in the same way that we store colors specifications for our presses.

Our folders, saddlestitchers and perfect binder are equipped with electronic optical sensors that reduce human error from the binding operations. Once the equipment is set up, the sensor takes a snapshot of the printed signature that is being loaded into the machine. The sensor then looks at each subsequent piece that is run through the machine to make sure it is identical to the original. If an operator loads a form or signature upside down or backwards, the sensor sees this and alerts the operator to fix the problem.
